PEDIATRIC DENTISTRYChildren’s dentistry services

With previous experience in pediatric dentistry, Dr. Alonso caters to the needs of our littlest patients. We love to see children here, and we strive to make this a place where they can feel comfortable and relaxed as they learn ways to make sure their teeth last a lifetime.

PREVENTIVE CAREWays to prevent oral health issues

Cleaning Regular cleanings and checkups are essential to maintain good oral health. We customize each cleaning based on our patients’ individual needs.

X-raysUsed as a diagnostic tool, these pictures help us determine the patient’s overall oral health. We use digital x-rays, which expose patients to very little radiation compared to traditional x-rays.

Sealants A small amount of material is painted into the grooves of the back teeth to help prevent cavities. This very simple procedure does an excellent job of maintaining oral health.

BruxismThis condition is more commonly known as teeth grinding or clenching. Many patients do this at night in their sleep and are completely unaware of it. Bruxism can lead to headaches, jaw pain, and worn down or weakened teeth. A night guard can be made to help protect the teeth against further wear.

RESTORATIVE DENTISTRYWays to correct diseased, injured, or abnormal teeth

ORTHODONTICS

FillingsWhen a patient has a small cavity or decay, the decay is removed and the space is replaced by a tooth-colored filling of composite material. No amalgam (silver) fillings are used.

Dental implantsA method for replacing missing teeth, a dental implant is a titanium, root-shaped device placed in the jaw to act as an anchor for a crown, which is fabricated to fit the implant and function as permanent tooth.

DenturesAnother way to replace missing teeth, dentures can be either partial or complete. Partial dentures are part of a removable appliance that attaches to the existing teeth. Complete dentures rest on the tissues or jaws to replace an entire set of teeth. Complete dentures can attach to dental implants for a better fit.

Dental extractionsThis term refers to the removal of teeth. When a tooth cannot be saved, it is removed. The space is then replaced with some form of implant, bridge, or denture.

Dental CrownsCrowns are used to restore teeth with decay, fractures, or trauma. Typically made of porcelain, they are matched to the existing teeth in shade and color so that they blend in with the rest of the mouth. Commonly referred to as “caps,” they surround weakened teeth to provide stability and can last a long time when properly maintained.

BridgeAnother method for replacing a tooth, a bridge quite literally bridges the gap created by one or more missing teeth. A crown is cemented to each tooth on either side of the gap with a false tooth attached between them. Unlike partial dentures that the patient takes in and out, bridges are fixed in the mouth.

Root canalRoot canal therapy treats disorders in the nerve(pulp) of the tooth. A root canal can save a tooth by treating the pulp, which contains the nerve and blood supply to a tooth, that is diseased or damaged. Pulp disease usually means that a tooth will be lost if something is not done to save it. Root canal therapy involves replacing the diseased pulp with a substance that will keep the tooth functional. Some common factors and symptoms that lead to root canal therapy include trauma such as a physical blow, irritation caused by deep decay, advanced gum disease, pain or throbbing while biting, sensitivity to hot and cold, and severe decay or an injury that creates inflammation.

COSMETIC DENTISTRYWays to make your smile more attractive

Porcelain veneersVeneers are facings created by bonding a very thin layer of porcelain to the front of the teeth. Porcelain veneers create a bright, white, natural smile with beautifully aligned, shapely teeth. Minimal tooth structure is removed during the porcelain veneers procedure.
